I thought perhaps I would try my hand at blogging about my family. As many of you know- I did this daily while my son Dylan was sick on caringbridge and want to continue blogging- but didn't feel like caringbridge was the right place for it anymore.
Things you should know about my MIGHTY MAYO's---- First of all- I named this blogged the Mighty Mayo's because of everything we have been through. We have found by sticking together, and relying on each other (and God)-- we can make it through anything. Now- meet the family. I am the mom- My name is Heide and I am almost 40 years old and my family is everything to me. We live in upstate NY and I have been married to Scott for almost 13 years. I knew that I was in love the moment we met and that hasn't changed in almost 18 years. We have 4 children- Dylan, Jacob, Devin and Justin. Dylan was diagnosed with PDD (pervasive development disorder) at 2 1/2 yrs old and then AML leukemia at age 7. He fought (with all of us along side of him) bravely for almost 18 months--pushing the limits of medical knowledge. He went to heaven on July 5th, 2008--with me by his side at the age of 8 yrs old. We miss him with every breathe we take--but are learning (in baby steps) to move past this horrific, tragic moment-but ever reminded that Dyl is embedded deep within our hearts. Jacob is almost 8--he loves sports and is pretty good at most of them. He is our comedian- and in love wit hockey. He would love to learn how to speed skate. On to our twins..(yes we had twins), Devin and Justin who are 6 1/2. It's completely amazing that these two are related much less twins. Justin is my on task, left hand man. If you want something done- go to him! He just LOVES to organize. He loves to play games and likes playing hockey like his big brother. Devin is my free-love, happy go lucky, not usually on task kid who just loves to play on the computer. He definitely tends to take after his big brother Dylan.
So that's who we are- a family who makes the best of what we have instead of lingering over what we have lost--but at the same time-never, ever forgetting. Love us or hate us--know we are always trying to do our very best.

I am so glad you are doing this Heide. You have such a good way with words and they always inspire me in one way or another. Can't wait to read more about the Mighty Mayos.
